2014 Read-A-Thon

Welcome to the 4th Annual CPES Read-A-Thon!

This is the first of the PTGO's two fundraisers for the year.  In addition to funding our regular programs for students and teacher support, we'll be striving to raise enough money to purchase new furniture for the Media Center as well as an upgraded sound system for the gym.  What better way is there to achieve these goals than by exploring the joys of reading?!  Please find a more thorough introduction to this year's event in the Parent Letter.

There are a few additions to the event this year that we hope will make it even more enjoyable:
  • Family Reading Time - get credit for time that the whole family spends reading.
  • Bookmark Design Contest - students have a chance to design the bookmark that all Tier 1 winners will receive.
  • Angel Sponsors - give students some pledging help for a chance at prizes for their diligent reading effort
For full details on the above programs, including a breakdown of prizes, please read through the Read-A-Thon Packet and sign the participation agreement!

Once the reading begins, feel free to print additional Student Reading Records as needed.

Important dates:
  • Pledge gathering period: September 15th – 29th
  • Reading period: September 29th – October 15th
  • Pledge envelopes returned to students: October 16th
  • Pledge turn-in period: October 17th – October 31st

Book Swap

This year, we are adding a new twist to the Read-A-Thon to spark even more interest in reading for our students.  Students may bring in unwanted books from home and choose up to three of other students' books to take home with them.  Book collection will be during the week of September 22-26 and students will be able to choose books beginning Monday, September 29th.
More details can be found in the flyer here:  Book swap flyer
